Filmmaker Emily Branham met BeBe more than a decade ago when he was just starting out at the Minneapolis nightclub Gay 90s.​ “I was just blown away by this incredibly charismatic performer who clearly had these loyal fans who loved her,” Branham said. “And I was like, I think this would be a really good short film. But there was clearly more there than would fit in a short film.”
