Emily Branham | Director/Producer
Emily Branham is a filmmaker and impact producer who believes in the value of art and the power of narrative to influence systemic change. The feature documentary she recently produced and directed, BEING BEBE: THE BEBE ZAHARA BENET DOCUMENTARY, premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, was a New York Times Critic’s Pick, won Jury & Audience Awards on its festival tour across 5 continents, and was picked up by Peacock, Fuse Media, United Airlines, OUTtv, SVT and DR. BEING BEBE is also available on select PBS stations starting in June 2025!
Beyond a more traditional distribution approach, Emily also led an impact campaign for BEING BEBE by organically building partnerships with global and grassroots human rights non-profits, educational institutions, and corporate organizations. The film became a useful tool for gathering those who stood to feel most inspired, uplifted and seen by BeBe’s story. Through conferences, panel discussions, eventized screenings, learning lunches and more, the film and its team helped build community – while supporting partners in their vital goals and missions.
Emily is currently the Impact Producer for a new 15-minute fiction film about identity crisis and post-partum mental health directed by Richa Rudola, Cow Heavy And Floral. She is also Consulting Producer for an upcoming documentary feature film about the iconic Minnesota State Fair, directed by Alec Fischer (THE FAIR: with anticipated release in 2027).
She thrives on making films about artists and creative thinkers. The short documentary she made in 5 days, “Legend: a film about Greg Garing,” won the jury prize for Best Film of the International Doc Challenge at Hot Docs in Toronto, then screened at Sheffield Doc/Fest, IDFA, Nashville, Big Sky, Rooftop Films, and on the Documentary Channel. She directs doc-style films for clients including JP Morgan Chase, Aritzia, Lincoln Center, Atlantic Council, Martha Stewart Weddings, and AT&T.
She has years of experience working with incredible creatives in high-pressure environments as a post-production and visual effects producer for clients including David Yurman, Mercedes-Benz, Adidas, Geico, Samsung, Apple, Cigna, Google, Nike, Lexus, AT&T, Citibank, Subway, Budweiser, Verizon, Fiat, A&E, PBS, Nova, Paramount Pictures, The Roots and Gwen Stefani; for production companies including The Artery, Buck, Artjail, Roof Studio, The Mill, M ss ng P eces, Show of Force, Imaginary Forces and HSI Productions.
Originally from Minneapolis, Emily was a child actor who earned her SAG-AFTRA card at 5 years old, and found her happy place both on- and off-stage at the Guthrie Theater and Children’s Theater Company. She studied Radio/TV/Film at Northwestern University’s School of Communications, and lives in New York City.
